MEET THE DOCTORS

John Ferrin, DMD, MS

Dr. John Ferrin received his DMD at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine, and has extensive knowledge of the latest periodontal training available. He also received a Master’s Degree of Science and a certificate in Periodontology from the University of Kentucky’s Periodontal Program, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Ferrin founded and today isco-director of the Rogue Excellence Dental Club with his partner Dr. Malloy.

Kyle Malloy, DMD, MS

Dr. Kyle Malloy graduated with Great Honors and received numerous awards while earning his DMD at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) School of Dentistry. He remained at OHSU to complete his Periodontal residency program earning a certificate in Periodontology and his master's degree (MS). Dr. Malloy successfully challenged the American Board of Periodontology to earn Diplomate status and is Board Certified in Periodontal and Implant Surgery. Together with Dr. Ferrin, he is co-director of the Rogue Excellence Dental Club.

Periodontal Evaluation

The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) recommends that you receive a comprehensive periodontal evaluation, or CPE, annually to determine if you have or if you are at risk for periodontal disease. By assessing your periodontal health yearly, you and your dental professional will know how healthy your teeth and gums are, and will be better able to assess if you need additional treatment.

Soft Tissue Grafting (Gum Grafting)

If gum recession is present and tooth roots are exposed, a gum graft may be recommended. This procedure is used to control and prevent further gum recession and subsequent damage to the surrounding teeth and bone structure.

LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure)

The LANAP protocol is a laser-based treatment for gum disease. There is no cutting and suturing with the LANAP protocol. Patients typically report less pain and discomfort during and after the procedure, compared to traditional periodontal surgery.

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal maintenance therapy is an ongoing program designed to prevent the progression of periodontal (gum) disease in the gum tissue and bone that supports the teeth. Periodontal maintenance is usually necessary for patients who have been diagnosed with and treated for periodontal disease.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is typically necessary for oral surgeries and more complicated dental procedures. It involves placing a small IV into the arm and delivering a safe sedative into your system.
