John Ferrin, DMD, MS

Dr. Ferrin brings a wealth of cutting-edge periodontal training with him to Southern Oregon. Born in the mountains of Northern Utah and raised in Mississippi, Dr. Ferrin joined the U.S Army National Guard at the age of 17 and served for 14 years.

He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with an emphasis in Physiology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He went on to earn his DMD at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine.

While attending dental school, he started a nationally recognized dental clinic to provide free dental care to Veterans in need.

The clinic was named Sgt. Clint Ferrin Dental Clinic after his brother, who neglected his oral health due to several deployments.

Sgt. Ferrin was later killed in action in Iraq in 2004. For his work in the clinic, Dr. Ferrin was awarded the ADA Foundation Award for student leadership.

During dental school, Dr. Ferrin found himself gravitating toward dental implants and periodontal surgery. He was later accepted into the University of Kentucky’s Periodontal Program. He received advanced, clinical-based training in sinus elevation, ridge augmentation, soft tissue grafting, complex implant placement, and pocket reduction therapy. He served as Chief Resident, graduating with a Master’s Degree of Science and a certificate in Periodontology. He continually expands his knowledge and skills by attending continuing education courses from renowned educators in his field.

He and his wife now call Southern Oregon home and spend their free time biking, hiking, and exploring with their three sons and daughter. Dr. Ferrin is an avid runner and has completed four full marathons and several half marathons. He plans to finish many races in the future.

Dr. Ferrin’s practice provides a variety of surgical services to treat periodontal issues. Ferrin Periodontics prides itself on the fact that we are very conservative in our treatment recommendations and limit surgery to the areas where it is necessary.

The early stages of periodontal disease are often best treated with non-surgical periodontal therapy. Even in severe cases, non-surgical periodontal therapy often precedes surgical therapy. This improves the overall tissue quality before surgery and helps limit the areas requiring surgery.

Contact Dr. Ferrin and his staff for exceptional service. We are proud to serve as your local periodontist in Medford, OR.
